A second funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Corinth Baptist Church in Gould/Eldorado, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis, Oklahoma.

Henry was born on July 17, 1946, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He left this physical life on Sunday, March 29, 2009 and was ushered into eternal life with his Heavenly Father.

He always said he was an original Okie from Muskogee.

Henry was raised by Tom and Ladessa McBrayer of Hollis, Oklahoma. He graduated from Hollis High School in 1964, attended Oklahoma Baptist University for one year and was graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1968 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Math. He went on to receive his Masters Degree in Guidance Counseling from Southwestern State University in 1971.

During the time of his college days, he met and married his wife, best friend and the love of his life for 40 years, Ruby Ann (McGlothlin) McBrayer. They were married on August 10, 1968, in Crawford, Oklahoma.

The McBrayers spent one year in Boise City, Oklahoma, where Henry coached football, basketball, and track and taught high school math. They spent seven years in Lubbock, Texas as teachers and coaching at Lubbock Coronado High School and Dunbar High School.

In 1976, they moved to Hollis, Oklahoma to enter a family farming operation. In 1979, Henry became a bi-vocational pastor of Corinth Baptist Church in Gould/Eldorado, Oklahoma.

In 1991, the family sold out of the farming industry and returned to teaching and coaching at Burleson High School in Burleson, Texas. Henry retired from coaching in 1997, only to move into the counseling office at Burleson High School, where he served as lead counselor from 2001-2005.

In 2004, Henry was diagnosed with parotid cancer and eventually retired from education in 2005. He was then called to pastor Friendship Baptist Church in Cleburne, Texas.

Henry had three passions in his life. First: his coaching, where he turned out numerous All-State and All- Americans, including several Super Bowl players; second: his churches at Corinth in Gould/Eldorado, Oklahoma and Friendship Baptist in Cleburne, Texas, where he had the privilege to lead souls to the Lord Jesus Christ and be ministered to by many wonderful and Godly men and women; and third: his pride and joy in his children, their spouses and grandchildren and his wife and best friend, Ruby.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Tomala McBrayer.

Henry McBrayer is survived by his wife, Ruby, of Burleson, Texas; daughter, Mandi Ellison and husband, Scotty, of Hollis, Oklahoma; sons, Matthew McBrayer and wife, Ashley, of Krum, Texas and Michael McBrayer and wife, Cassidy, of Cisco, Texas; grandchildren, Piper McBrayer, Tristan Ellison and Grayci McBrayer; and nephew, Marc Howard, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
