Amy Diane Thomas

A radiant light in every life she touched, Amy Thomas passed away on Sunday, May 11th surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of grace, joy, and unwavering faith. She was an extraordinary soul whose kindness and compassion uplifted everyone around her. Amy's infectious positivity and boundless encouragement inspired countless people to embrace life fully and choose joy in every moment.

Amy dedicated her life to loving others and making the world brighter, especially through her role as a beloved teacher at Coleman Elementary. There, she didn't just teach — she nurtured, inspired, and transformed lives. Her students adored her, and the impact she had on young minds will echo for generations to come.

Amy was a friend to everyone she met. Her ability to see the good in every person and every situation was a rare gift that brought comfort and hope to so many. Her joyful presence, warm smile, and unwavering support were constants in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.

More than anything, Amy was the heart of her family — a loving daughter, devoted wife, an extraordinary mother, a cherished sister, and a true friend. She is survived by her loving husband, Kevin Thomas, and their treasured daughter, Lilly Thomas, who was the light of her life. She also leaves behind her mother and stepfather, Patricia and Jack Van Hauen, her stepmother, Carole Barrett, and her beloved siblings, Stefanie Cowden, Megan Rawlins, Jaclyn Likhite, and John Barrett III (Trey). Amy's loving spirit will also be remembered by her uncles, Craig and Scott Barrett, as well as her aunts, Dona Reeves and Rhonda Newsome, and a wide circle of extended family, friends, colleagues, and students.

Amy was preceded in death by her father, John Barrett Jr., and her grandparents, John and Gladys Barrett, Dorothy Belz, and James and Lillian Reeves.

Though Amy may no longer walk among us, her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched with her grace, compassion, and deep love for others. Her memory will forever be a guiding light, reminding us all to live with joy, to give freely, and to love deeply.
