Today we celebrate the life of an amazing son, husband, father, PawPaw, brother, uncle & friend. Aubrey Lynn Sims Sr. passed away peacefully on February 5th, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. Aubrey fought a good battle over the last several years with multiple health issues, but never once complained or asked “why me?”.

Aubrey was the first living baby born in the Throckmorton Hospital in Throckmorton, Texas, to Alton Aubrey Sims and Bennie Jean Cribbs Sims, on August 11. 1951. Growing up in Rendon, Texas, Aubrey, graduated from Mansfield High School in 1969. That same year, he joined the United States Air Force Reserves, as a firefighter in the fire brigade, serving six years. At the same time as enlistment, following in his parents footsteps, he began his 50 year long career with the oil and gas industry at Gearhart-Owens and eventually retiring with Owen Oil Tools.

On May 15, 1970, Aubrey married his long time sweetheart, Donna Sue Stephenson DeArman. After meeting on the school bus in 9th grade, these high school sweethearts celebrated over 55 years of marriage. The Sims family grew by two in the early years with a daughter, Marsha D’Lynn and a son, Aubrey Lynn Sims Jr. Aubrey was the epitome of the word father. Never missing an event with his kids and being on the front line to coaching, encouraging, and teaching.

Throughout his life, Aubrey enjoyed his family and friends, and was known to be the storyteller of the family. He loved growing up sharing his love of hunting, fishing, greyhound racing, and riding horses with his Dad. He instilled this love of the outdoors with his kids and later his grandchildren.

Aubrey lived life to the fullest and even on his final day said, “I have had a great life. I’ve always had everything that I ever wanted and needed.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Bennie Sims.

He will be missed by so many, but his memories will live on through his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Aubrey is survived by his wife, Donna; children, daughter, D’Lynn and husband, Joe Hadley; son, Aubrey Sims Jr., and wife, Nikki; grandchildren, Cade Bennett and wife, Allie; Reagan and husband, Peyton Kennedy, Rylie Sims, Cali Bennett, Jaci Hadley, and Garett Hadley; great grandchildren, Andrew and Pierce Alton Bennett; sister, Vicki and husband, Bill Shanklin; brother, Greg Sims and wife, Darla; and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
