Funeral services for Charles Von “Chuck” Bates, 87, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 4:00 P.M., Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Rosser Funeral Home Chapel in Cleburne. The Reverend Brian McClure will officiate. Interment will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Raby Cemetery in Moore County, Tennessee. Brother Brian Love will officiate.
Charles Von “Chuck” Bates passed away on June 17, 2020 in Cleburne, Texas. He was born February 3, 1933 in Fayetteville, Tennesee to Leslie Evelyn (Adams) and Charles Warren Bates. He married Sylvia Burrow on December 26, 1956 in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
Chuck Bates served his country in the United States Marine Corp, after which he worked as an electrical-civil engineer. He moved his family from Sparta, Tennessee to Cleburne, Texas in 1972, and retired from Range-Aire Corporation in 2009. He was of the Christian faith. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Evelyn Jane; and stepfather, Edmund LovVorn.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 plus years, Sylvia Bates of Cleburne, Texas; son, Edmund V. Bates and wife, Cristy of Fairfield, Pennsylvania; daughters, Cathy V. Wilson and husband, Rodney of Joshua, Texas and Lori V. Weber and husband, George of Saint Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Virginia V. Shields, Michelle Braunlin, Brittany Angst, Matthew Wilson, George Weber V, and Jordan Weber; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Kay Pierce of Clinton, Tennessee and Wynnifred Counts and husband, Larry of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; brothers, Bob Bates and wife, Lou of Granbury, Texas and Jon LovVorn and wife, Paulette of Shelbyville, Tennessee; and a host of other relatives and friends.
