Billy Fred Allen

Billy Fred "Freddy" Allen, beloved husband, father, and Pappy, passed away on May 12, 2023 in Cleburne. He was 78 years old. 

Fred was born in Cleburne on November 14, 1944, the son of Thomas Fred Allen and Billie Louise Byrd Allen.  He graduated from Cleburne High School Class of 1963 and attended Texas Wesleyan College where he played basketball. Fred met the love of his life, Lynda Catherine Gagen, in September of 1966, and they married June 17, 1967 in Fort Worth, Texas. Fred and Lynda were blessed with four children and eventually settled in Cleburne where he and Lynda raised their family. He adored his children and grandchildren and was proud of the family he raised. He enjoyed reciting historical facts and was a wealth of trivia knowledge. Fred spent many years working for Rubbermaid Commercial Products. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed coaching his sons. He was a lifelong Texas Longhorn fan and Cleburne Yellow Jacket fan. 

Fred is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Lynda Gagen Allen, sons Bradley “Brad” and wife Kim Allen of Ennis, William “Bill” and wife Andrea Allen of Cleburne, and daughter Julie and husband Brett Edmiston of Cleburne. He is the beloved Pappy to Avery Catherine-Ann Allen, Grant James Allen, Chase David Allen, Antares Ruth Ewell and fiancé Jase Camden Felton,  Skye Katharyn Ewell, Jack Wayne Edmistion, and Luke Allen Edmiston. He is also survived by his brother, Tommy and wife Sharon Allen of Cleburne, as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son Patrick Charles Allen, and sister Nancy Allen Roberts.

Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Cleburne at 9:00 am on Friday, May 19, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held immediately following at 10:00 am. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Fred’s grandsons, Grant Allen, Chase Allen, Jack Edmiston and Luke Edmiston.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Becky Woodall and the hospice caregivers for the care they provided to Fred. 

Services are provided under the direction of Rosser Funeral Home.
