Graveside services for Billy G. Cox, 85, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 30, 2025 in Hopewell Cemetery with Trent Fox, Blake Cox, Grant Cox, Jonathan Bullard and Jeremy Floyd serving as honorary pallbearers.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8:00 P.M., Thursday, May 29 at Rosser Funeral Home.

Billy Cox passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at his home. He was born August 14, 1939 in Rochester, Texas to Lura Thelma (Duncan) and Fred Noel Cox.

Bill served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force from December 1957-March 1962. He served as an Engine Mechanic assigned to the 824th Combat Support Group with Strategic Air Command.
On June 06, 1964, Bill married Fern (Carter) Cox in Weatherford, Texas. The family lived in Weatherford, Texas and later in Ft. Worth, Texas. They moved to Joshua, Texas in 1976.


In 1965, Bill began working at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Arlington, Texas. After 25-years of service, he retired in 1990 as a Supervisor over the Chassis Department. After his retirement, Bill and his wife, Fern, enjoyed traveling across the United States building churches with the Volunteer Christian Builders group. He was a longtime member of Lane Prairie Baptist Church and later College Heights Baptist Church.
Bill enjoyed reading and studying his bible, woodworking, and woodcarving. He could often be found sitting on the back porch carving wooden characters or carving designs into walking canes.


Bill also enjoyed being a camp host with Fern at an RV park, in the mountains near Leadville, Colorado. On his days off as camp host, you could find him fishing for trout in nearby lakes and streams.
He enjoyed visiting with friends and family. He especially liked visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Paul Douglas Cox, sister, Juanell Hobbs; and granddaughter, Alyssa Fox.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Fern Cox; sons, Noel Cox and wife, Suzanne, and Toby Cox and wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Pam Fox and husband, Keith; sister, Judy Hooper and husband, James; grandchildren, Trent Fox, Blake Cox, Tiffany Floyd, Haley Bullard, and Grant Cox; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
