Leta Mae Bolden (Hand)

November 17, 1939 — March 16, 2020

Memorial services celebrating the life of Leta Mae Bolden, 80, of Rio Vista, Texas will be conducted at 11a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Cornerstone Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Weldon Coble officiating.

Mrs. Bolden passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020 at her home. She was born in Sayre, Oklahoma on November 17, 1939, the daughter of Oza (Hill) and Grady Hand.

Leta was loved by many. She was a mother, beloved friend, nanny, cousin and most importantly a prayer warrior. Her hobbies in life were baking and praying. Leta (momma) excelled at both. Leta was a mother to many not just her own. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren. She loved to bake pies, cakes, and cookies, and greatly enjoyed seeing the enjoyment that her baking brought others. Many days and nights were spent praying for all of her loved ones. She received great peace and love by praying for others. Prayer comforted her all the way home.

In the early 80’s, Leta and her children moved to Rio Vista, Texas. Soon after she began working at Mrs. Beards Bakery. She made many forever friends and found memories during her time at Mrs. Beards Bakery. Even while working hard and long hours she grew in her faith and was a stronger Christian than ever before. After 20 years she was able to retire and could enjoy her grandchildren full time. That was a longtime goal of hers, to be a full-time nanny. Enjoying her grandchildren was such a blessing to her every day.
In the late 80’s she gave her life to Jesus at Faith Temple Church. She was the oldest member at the time of her passing. Often, she would say that she could have never made it this far without Jesus and her church family at her side. Her lasts words and prayers were for others to find love with Jesus.
Leta was greeted at the gates of heaven by her mother, father, daughter (Karla Freedman), husband (Kenneth Bolden), and many other friends, family, and loved ones.

She is survived by her children, Neal Freedman, Blake Freedman, Karen Gossett and husband, Arm, Kristi Hughes and husband, Jeff, Kenny Bolden and wife, Suzette, and Ronda Millington and husband, Tim; best friend and cousin, Mickey Doster; grandchildren, Andrea Paige Gossett, Landon Gossett, Kulten Hughes, Leta Hughes, Jackson Hughes, Brittany Gossett, Megan Gossett, Jeremy Bolden, Candace Kato and Ashley Crawford; great grandchildren, Annaleigh, Mady, Sofia and Tara; and other family members and friends.
