Bess Jean Brockmeirer
Bess, 83 years old, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 15 in Fort Worth, Texas. Bess’s children and her niece Tina were at her side at the time. Bess was preceded in death by her husband Milton Brockmeier, her son Jon Brockmeier, and her parents Joseph Edward Thiebaud and Grace Barlow Thiebaud.
Born in Great Falls, Montana , Bess always considered Colorado her home, She and her husband Milton lived there most of their lives and raised their family in Colorado. Bess earned her B.A. in Speech from Walla Walla College in Washington and worked as an educational administrative assistant prior to her retirement. She moved to Keene Texas in 2000 and was a member of the Keene Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Bess, a proud and vibrant woman, loved to read and was a fierce competitor at board games, especially scrabble. She made time every day to watch the news and stay up to date on current events. It was not unusual for her friends and family to find emails from “BeBusyBe” in their inboxes with interesting articles from Bess.
Bess is survived by her son Tim Brockmeier and his wife Michelle of Norman, Oklahoma and her daughter Heidi Nelson of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and her grandchildren Meagan, Zachary, Curran, and Ethan. She is also survived by her sisters Grace Thomsen of Keene, Texas, Juanita Kretschmar of Big Pine Key, Florida, and Sarah vanden Hoven of Anguin, California and numerous nieces and nephews. Bess had a special bond with her niece Cristina Thomsen of Keene, Texas who provided her aunt with warm companionship and care the last few years.
Services for Bess will be held Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Keene SDA Church Chapel (First Street) at 3:00pm. Pastor Phil Robertson will officiate.
