Carolyn Waldrip

Carolyn Ann Wylie Waldrip, born July 13, 1943 passed away on August 10, 2022 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was 79 years old. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband; David Waldrip, parents; Clyde Moore and Ora Mae Shockler Wylie, brothers; Rollan, Ottis, and Willie Clyde Wylie and sisters; Olivia Waters, Ruth Dean Ratliff and Ila Mae London. Carolyn is survived by her four children; Renae Waldrip, Charles Waldrip and wife, Cindy, Robert Waldrip and wife, Cheryl, all of Grandview and Angela Petrash and husband, Kevin, of Ganado, Texas. Carolyn was an awesome mom to her four children but was an even better "Granny" and "Mamaw" to her grandchildren; Stephanie Waldrip Peters and Stacy Waldrip Kile, Robert (Bubba), Bradley and Kirk Waldrip, and Zachary and Logan Petrash. She was overjoyed with the additions of her great-grandchildren; Dylen, Tarah, Myles, Annastyn, Corbin, Kinley and Blanton.

Carolyn was a beautician in the 70's, opening Carolyn's Beauty Shop in Grandview where she cut and styled hair for both men and women. Carolyn often said she got the best gossip from her male clients. She also worked alongside her husband, David, in their family business of David's Supermarkets. For many years, Carolyn worked full time and still managed to get her four active children everywhere they needed to be when they needed to be there; basketball, baseball, softball, football, and track. She filled numerous spiral notepads with the stats of all the basketball games her children played. She was cook, maid, chauffeur, and mom; staying up late many nights, washing, sewing and mending clothes for her family.

She was a magnificent seamstress who sewed numerous cheerleading skirts and uniforms for some of the Grandview Zebra cheerleaders throughout the 80's. Carolyn could also crochet beautifully, providing afghans and baby blankets for all of her family and friends and making sure no one was ever in need of a potholder or hot pad. Carolyn's greatest joy was truly her children and grandchildren. They were the true lights in her life. She lived for the times when all the family would come back home and would cook a huge meal for everyone and did this with a grand-baby on her hip.

She babysat her grandchildren and great-grandchildren constantly and would take each one of them clothes shopping at least once a year. It was always a special treat when you spent time with her. Carolyn had an adventurous streak whether it be on the back of a motorcycle or on a roller coaster at Six Flags.

She loved being able to call up her children or grandchildren and say, "Let's go have lunch. I'm buying."

Carolyn was a wonderful, one-of-a-kind mom and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will take place on Saturday August 13, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Grandview Cemetery Pavilion.
