Cecil May

Cecil May, of Alvarado, Texas, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 92 years of age.

Cecil was born in Berrien Springs, Michigan to Ashley Manning May and Anna Hanna Kerton May. He had one sister, Frances Bartlett, who was sixteen years his senior.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War after marrying the love of his life, Darlene, in January 1953.

Together, Cecil and Darlene raised two daughters, Maylene and Teresa. When Doug joined the family, Cecil welcomed him wholeheartedly - not as an in-law, but as a son.

Cecil was known for his deep faith, his love for people, and a smile that shone through his eyes and warmed every soul it met. He loved to laugh, often filling rooms with joy, and was famous for turning short stories into long adventures. He had a legendary sense of direction - better than any GPS - and he never hesitated to defend it.

His home was always open, his door welcoming, his ear ready to listen, and his guidance full of wisdom. Even his phone, which reliably rang in the middle of church, brought laughter to those who loved him.

Family was Cecil's pride and joy. He is survived by his second wife, Barbara; daughter, Teresa and husband, Doug; grandchildren, Martin and his wife, Tiffany, and Travis and wife, Crysta; great grandchildren, Sadie, Daisy, and Nash Sonne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ashley and Anna Hanna May, first wife, Darlene; daughter, Maylene; and sister, Frances Bartlett.

A service celebrating Cecil's life will be held on Saturday, October 11, at 3:00 p.m. at New Beginning Cowboy Fellowship Church.

Cecil's life was one of faith, laughter, and love - a legacy that will continue to live on in his family and in the many lives he touched.
