Charlotte Jean Perdue, 84 of Burleson, passed away Friday, May 9, 2025. She was born October 1, 1940, to Conley and Jean Williams in Bonham, Texas, and grew up in Lubbock, where she graduated Monterey High School. She also attended Draughn's Business School, where she learned speed writing and typing.
Charlotte was a Christian first who loved Jesus, her bibles, and southern gospel music. She taught her daughter and granddaughters to pray at an early age and made sure they had bibles of their own. She was a quiet, gentle soul who never yearned for attention, status, or wealth. She always said her true rewards were in heaven. This faith provided the strength to overcome unspeakable suffering in her final years while physically disabled from a stroke.
Charlotte was always exceptionally brilliant. From full conversations as a baby at her Mamaw's store to correctly answering most Jeopardy questions, she stunned everyone around her and still read three books a week until she was called Home. While she retired from decades at Radioshack in 2005, cooking was always her true love. She cooked professionally at various restaurants in the 70's and 80's and was a chef at DFW Airport's AMFAC Hotel & Resort. At home, she could take three ingredients from a pantry and magically create a five-star meal, engaging and inspiring her kids in the process. Charlotte's daughter Lisa still cherishes her chef hat and fondly remembers early lessons on crafting roses from tomato peels. Indeed, Charlotte generously offered cooking advice to anyone who'd ask, frequently receiving phone calls from her son, John, for "Mom's Dial-A-Recipe". All who knew her remember the spectacular cakes and pies she made for every occasion, or just because. "Diet" simply wasn't in her vocabulary, and she owned at least 3 of every kitchen gadget made. Charlotte viewed the art of cooking, and the delicious hard-earned results, as an opportunity to bring loved ones together - a joyful, spiritual experience meant to be shared.
She loved all her children tremendously and unconditionally and took care to never forget a birthday. She shared an extraordinary bond with her first granddaughter, Angela, but she adored all her grandchildren more than they knew and was so very proud of them. She cherished happy memories with her loved ones as food for the soul. Words cannot begin to express how much she will be missed, nor how loved she will always be as we wait for that beautiful reunion.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, sister Elaine Lee, and son A.J. Musick.
Survivors include her sisters, Sharon Claunch and Gayle Martin; Daughter Lisa Perdue; Sons Aaron Musick and John Musick; Grandchildren: Angela Abel, Ashlyn Haines, Christopher Musick, Virginia Applewhite, Stephanie Musick, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
