Funeral services for Chester William Story, 86, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church of Cleburne with the Rev. Bob Rainey officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway N., Allen, TX 75013.
There is no visitation scheduled.
Chester Story passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 in Cleburne. He was born in Allen, Texas on September 6, 1936, the son of Roberta (Miller) and Alvis Clyde Story.
Chester married his high school sweetheart, Marian Smith, on June 29, 1957 in Princeton, Texas. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Chester was a basketball coach for 42 years. He was inducted into the TABC Hall of Fame in 2008 with a career record of 695-324, and his Richland Junior College team won the Junior College Divison III National Championship in 1999.
Chester was among the first class inducted into the Allen High School Athletic Hall of Honor in 2012, representing the 1950's decade for his accomplishments in football, basketball, and baseball. He was also inducted into the Austin College Hall of Honor, where he lettered four years in basketball and baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty June Snoddy.
Chester is survived by his beloved wife, Marian Story of Cleburne; daughters, Cheri White and husband, Mark, of Cleburne and Teri Vrba and husband, Glenn of Decatur, Texas; son, Kyle Story and wife, Teena, of Prosper, Texas;; grandchildren, Drew Vrba, Sara Budinskiy and husband, Roman, Shay Stephens and husband, Justin, Chad White, Whitney Thompson and husband, Michael, and Tyler Story and wife, Lauren; great grandchildren, Britton Budinskiy and Forrest Thompson; and numerous other family members and friends.
Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
