Darwin Lee Coker passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the age of 96. He was born on March 13, 1930, in Hugo, Oklahoma to Evert C. and Dora E. Lindsey Coker.
He was a hard worker, Jack-of-all-trades, youth director at Briar Church of Christ for many years, retired from Sears in 1994, and loved to play the guitar and sing. He recorded his own music and enjoyed giving his CD's to family and close friends.
Darwin would always joke and say that he played for his OWN amazement!
After retirement, Darwin enjoyed going to nursing homes and two Ft. Worth elem. schools for lots of music and singing! He and his wife headed a benevolence program at their church for over 20 years. But what he really loved was being a big part of the Venus Prison Ministry during those same 20 years! Darwin was an excellent Bible teacher and the men at the Venus unit really learned so much about the Bible from him.
Darwin was a sweet man of God-----loving, kind, faithful Christian, assisted many people, and a fantastic husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Reginald Coker and Charles Coker, wife, Ruth, daughter, Deborah Rasbury, and one great-grandchild, Brenyn L. Aldridge.
His survived by his soulmate, Diana Coker, daughters Lewis and Cathy Field, Terri Barry, and Edward and Laurie Gay, son Davy and Susan Coker, brother Don A. Coker, ten grandkids, thirteen great-grandkids, many loving nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Alvarado Church of Christ with Minister Tim Archer officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Rest Cemetery with Edward Gay, Edward King, Scott Jackson, Joseph Selvera, Adrian Gonzalez, and Chez Guilbeau serving as pallbearers.
