Rio Vista—Funeral service for Wendell Dollar, 68, of Rio Vista, Texas will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Rio Vista with the Rev. Paul Pinyan officiating. Burial will follow at Grange Hall Cemetery in Rio Vista.
Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Duane Dollar, Daniel Dollar, Tommy Burch, Randy Logan, Jim Trussell, Chris Eller, Josh Tidwell and Jeff Morris.
Mr. Dollar passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at his home with all his family by his side. He was born in Cleburne, Texas on February 20, 1943, the son of Annie Pearl (McDaniel) and Ambrose Weltmer Dollar.
Wendell married Ruby Morris on August 9, 1962 in Cleburne. He was an environmentalist tech with the Texas Highway Department, where he retired after 16 years of service. Wendell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rio Vista and was a member and past master of the Rio Vista Masonic Lodge #453.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Harvey Campbell; brothers, Johnnie and Raymond Dollar; and sister, Juanita Hall.
Mr. Dollar is survived by his wife, Ruby Dollar of Rio Vista; son, Kevin Dollar and wife, Anne, of Cleburne; daughters, Darla Dollar Strickland and Donna Elder and husband, Ted; sister, Genoia Marbut, all of Rio Vista; grandchildren, Derek Green and wife, Samantha, Nikki Hobson, T. J. Elder and wife, Jessica, Chris Elder and wife, Tiffany, Duane Dollar and fiancée, Amelia, Daniel Dollar and fiancée, Haley, Wendy Dollar, Larry Strickland, Michael Strickland, and Samantha Elder; great grandchildren, Luke, Clayton, Colton, Klaira, Trevor, Laci, Isaiah, Jaiden, and Kaiden; his special four legged babies, Bubba, Misty and Precious; and a host of other family and friends.
