Dolores Ann Crowder went to be with our Lord on Monday, January 19, 2026.
Dolores who most knew as Ann was born on December 17, 1942, in Cleburne, Texas to James C. Allen and Annel Hughes-Allen. Dolores was united in marriage to James Gregory Crowder on November 20, 1958 and was married 53 years. She and James retired to Whitney, Texas until James's death in 2012 when she moved to Cleburne to live with her daughter. Dolores was loved by everyone she met. She was a sincere, kind and loving Christian, who cherished the privilege of sharing her relationship with God to anyone she met. God used Dolores and James as chaplains in the Texas Prison system where they had the privilege to introduce God's word to the inmates as well as the Guards. In 1997 they were recognized for their prison ministry with the 'Governor's Volunteer Service Award' for the most innovative program in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, presented to them by then Governor George W. Bush. Their Chaplain's services also included the City of Fort Worth, Cleburne, Meridian, and to anyone who wanted to know more about Jesus. Dolores also had a deep passion for the women of the Edna Gladney Home in Fort Worth. One of her proudest moments was when she learned her Sister had adopted a baby boy who she had held as a baby in the Edna Gladney nursery. She and James enjoyed their ministries, including their most treasured motorcycle ministry, camping, fishing, boating, and fellowshipping with friends and family. Dolores's eyes would light up and a great big smile would come across her face when talking about her seven grandchildren and she wanted to be one of the first to hold her nine great grandchildren. Dolores, also known as Ann, Mom, Granny, Big Granny, Nanny, Mommo, Aunt Ann, and Aunt Dolores, will be dearly missed by all who knew her. God has called home a true child of God and we are certain she was welcomed with "Well done my good and faithful servant."
Survivors: The survivors left behind to cherish her legacy are her daughters, Cindy Timmons and husband Ronnie of Cleburne, Melanie Hauk and husband Carl of Cleburne, Christi Keel and husband Clayton of Whitney; sister, Sharon Doss and husband Ronnie of Clifton; brother-in-law, Samuel Crowder and wife Jane of Fort Worth; grandsons, Greg Hauk and wife Caitlin, A.J. Hauk, Mitchell Timmons and wife Amber, Cody Crowder and wife Denise, Joshua Lanier, and Nicholas Keel; granddaughter, Shayla Giuliani and husband Tony; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and their families whom she loved dearly.
