Funeral services for Doris Jean Schediwy, 77, of Rio Vista, Texas will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Ascension Lutheran Church in Cleburne, Texas with Pastor Eddie Scheler officiating. Burial will follow in Rio Vista Cemetery.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2025, at Rosser Funeral Home.
Dody Schediwy passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025, at her home. She was born in Bishop, California on October 4, 1948, the daughter of Elaine and Richard Ballard.
At the age of 18, Dody was crowned the 1966 Rodeo Queen of Apple Valley, California. She went on to work as a vet assistant and secretary to Dr. Keagy in Apple Valley.
She had a life long love of the outdoors and loved riding horses and 4-wheelers, hiking, and camping.
Dody worked for many years at the Rio Vista ISD as a custodian, concessions, and finally as a bus driver before retiring in 2024. She loved her Eagles and cared very much for the children in her care. She also enjoyed helping with See You At The Pole.
An avid NASCAR fan, Dody loved Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr, Jeff Gordon, and Joey Logano.
Dody was very strong in her faith, putting people first and providing comfort. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. She was a supportive mother through good times and bad. "She loved us so much, she was a very strong and loving Momma."
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Austin Allen in 2021; sister, Nancy Waltz; and nephew, Cody Waltz.
Dody is survived by her daughters, Wendy King and fiance, Rod Alexander and Amanda Adams and husband, John; grandchildren, Dylan Stewart, Lily, Lacey, Johnny, and J.T. Geyer; nieces, Kama Waltz, Andrea Pollock; nephew, Jonathan Pollock; the father of her son, Jerry Allen; and many other family members and friends.
