Vernon "Peanut" Gambrell

Funeral services for Vernon “Peanut” Gambrell, 74, of Grandview, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at The Heights in Cleburne with Pastor Kody Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Lane Prairie Cemetery.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2020 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Collins, Michael Collins, Jeremy Collins, Junior Jessup, Cody Bonham, Jim Bonham, Jason Rhea, Josh Green, and Cameron Pool; with Jimmy Collins serving as Honorary Pallbearer.
Vernon Gambrell passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas. Peanut, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Cleburne on July 19, 1946 to Cleo (Hardin) and Jimmie Odell Gambrell.
He married Patricia “Pat” Bullock on March 31, 1971 in Glen Rose, Texas.
Vernon served his country in the United States Army and was a retired carman with the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member of The Heights.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Gambrell of Grandview; son, Shawn Gambrell and wife, Jamie, also of Grandview; “special son”, Sam Sendgraff of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Adele, Mara, Isaac, and Colin Gambrell; brother, Virgil Gambrell and wife, Wanda, of Fort Worth; sister, Marlotta Montgomery and husband, Charles, of Cleburne; and several nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the charity of your choice.
