Obituary

Garry Thomas Scott, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and son, went to be with our Lord on July 24, 2026, in Cleburne, Texas. He was 73 years old.

Garry was born on January 6, 1953, in Fleming, Kentucky, to Kenneth and Norma Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Scott and Norma Cleek Scott, and his son, Gary Thomas Scott Jr.

In December 1982, Garry married the love of his life, Joy Hays. Together they built a loving family that became Garry's greatest pride and joy.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Joy Scott; his daughters, Jennifer Scott, Jessica Schwab and her husband, William, and Dianna Scott; and his daughter-in-law, Pauline Scott. He was a proud and devoted Papaw to his nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him endless joy.

Garry never met a stranger. He loved striking up conversations and could spend hours sharing stories about his military service, his years as a sheriff/deputy, and his firefighting career in civil service. He had an incredible knowledge of classic cars and was always eager to talk about them. Garry also enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels, playing with his grandchildren, and taking family road trips and vacations. He would move mountains for the people he loved, and his kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family will never be forgotten.

Garry's legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
