IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary Don
McCoy, Jr.
May 2, 1972 – March 8, 2026
Gary Don McCoy, Jr. was born May 2, 1972 and passed away March 8, 2026 at the age of 53.
Gary was born in Dallas, Texas, but lived in Cleburne most of his life. Gary attended Cleburne High School, Class of 1990. He continued his education at Texas Tech University earning his Bachelor's in the area of Sociology, Class of 1994. He then pursued his Master's degree in Religious Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Class of 1997.
Gary was musically gifted. He began playing piano early in his life, and developed a love of worshipping God through his music. He has played in many churches and for many sacred events. His hard work and talent drew many people to his style of playing the piano, giving glory to the Lord with each note, chord and glissando. His humor was witty and he loved playing games. In his everyday life, Gary always tried to point others to Jesus.
He loved his church family at Cleburne Bible Church and gained so many life-long friendships that he will be forever grateful. His favorite Bible verse was Jeremiah 29:11, and one of his favorite contemporary Christian songs was “Hello, My Name Is” by Matthew West.
Gary is survived by his father, Gary Don McCoy, Sr; wife, Sheryl McCoy; son, Zachary McCoy; daughter, Virginia McCoy; sister, Dawn McCoy Tanner and husband John; sister, Paige McCoy Kennon and husband, Jeff; sister-in-law, Denise Dykes and husband, Neal; nieces and nephews- Katie Tanner, Joey Tanner and wife, Misti; Abigail Tanner Everage and husband, Dylan; Krista Kennon, Justin Kennon, Joshua Kennon, Aaron Dykes, Callie Dykes Broussard and husband, Israel, and the Ballard family of Mississippi.
Gary is preceded in death by his mother, Joylee Zachary McCoy with whom he is reunited in heaven for eternity.
Gary's visitation will be held at Rosser Funeral Home on March 12 at 6:00-8:00pm. His service will be held at Cleburne Bible Church on March 13 at 2:00pm, with the graveside service to follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
