Glenda Hicks

Glenda Hicks, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 28, 1945, in Dublin, Texas, Glenda was raised in the warmth of her hometown, where she developed the deep love of family and fun that would define her life.

Glenda is survived by her husband, Joe Valton Hicks; daughters Denise Kiker and Patty Elrod, both of Burleson, TX; stepdaughter Anise Jones and her husband Tony of Valley View, TX; brother James Glen Richey II and his wife Debbie of Granbury, TX; and sister Sarah Martin and her husband James of Cresson, TX. She was a cherished grandmother to Nicole Belle (spouse: Bekah) of Arlington, TX; Kylie Hardcastle (spouse: Sam) of Midland, TX; Tyler Kiker of Rio Vista, TX; Matthew Elrod of Willow Park, TX; and Presley Elrod of Denton, TX. Glenda was also the proud great-grandmother of Ashlynn, Merrick, and Waylon-who brought her endless joy. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, James Glen and Oleta Richey; her sister Patricia and brother-in-law Lonnie Black; and her beloved grandson Colton Kiker.

Glenda had a zest for life and a spark in her spirit. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed cruises, always ready for her next adventure. She was an avid bowler and a competitive spirit at the casino slots. Glenda also enjoyed golfing and fishing, embracing the outdoors with joy and laughter. A wonderful dancer with a natural rhythm, she lit up the room whenever music played. A proud native of Dublin, Texas-home of the original Dr Pepper-her favorite drink, of course, was a cold Diet Dr Pepper. And as a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, she cheered for her team through every season-win or lose.

Above all, Glenda fiercely loved her family and her pets. Her loyalty, warmth, and humor will be remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and strength will live on in the hearts of those she held dear.

A celebration of Glenda's life will be held on May 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Jellystone Park in Burleson, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may also be made in Glenda's honor to the Alzheimer's Association.

Glenda was truly one of a kind, and her light will be missed but never forgotten.
