Evangelina Gomez (Vazquez)
Evangelina Gomez Vazquez, 63, of Cleburne, Texas passed away, Monday, October 27th, 2014, at home with her family by her side.
She was born to Domingo and Silvia Vazquez on December 27, 1950, in Guayama, Puerto Rico. After graduating high school, Evangelina became a teacher. She then moved to Massachusetts and continued her work as an elementary educator. She made her way west to California where she married and had two sons. It was there, that Evangelina decided to work in the medical field and became a Medical Assistant, working in women's health. She continued to work in that profession after relocating to Keene, Texas.
Evangelina loved nature, being involved in the church, enjoyed taking trips, and supporting non- profit charities. Her greatest passions in life were God, and family. She raised her two sons and took care of her elderly mother, all while battling cancer the last fourteen years of her life.
Evangelina is survived by her mother, Silvia; and two sons, Enrique Gomez of Cleburne and Sergio Gomez and wife, Heather, of Denison, Texas. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Juan Vazquez and wife, Maria, of Keene; Sadot Vazquez and wife, Digna, of Fitchburg, MA; Domingo Vazquez and wife, Rebecca; Isail Flores and wife, Socorro; Monica Vazquez and husband, Ruben, of Guayama, Puerto Rico; Migdalia Pillado and husband, Ernesto; and Ivonne Vazquez, of Burleson, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father, Domingo, and sister, Aida Flores-Enrique.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Keene Memorial Park Cemetery, in Keene, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the March of Dimes Foundation, her favorite non-profit organization.
