Obituary

Retired Airforce veteran Harold L Waits, 78, of Cleburne, Texas, passed away on July 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on February 25, 1948, in Fairfield, Alabama, to Frank and Louise Waits, Harold grew up with a quiet steadiness and a generous heart that marked every chapter of his life.

Harold married the love of his life, Gloria, and together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and enduring devotion. He was a proud father to his daughters, Gloria Snider and Maria Newbury, and found tremendous joy in watching them grow into the women and mothers they are today. His family was his compass-every trip planned, every story told, every small kindness-he did it with them in mind.

He delighted in simple, meaningful pleasures: camping under clear night skies, traveling to see new places and familiar faces, and unwinding with his favorite computer games. Harold had a curious mind and an easy smile; he loved a good road map and a better joke. Whether pitching a tent or troubleshooting a laptop, he approached life with patience, resourcefulness, and a spirit of adventure.

Harold's legacy lives on in his beloved wife, Gloria Waits; his daughters, Gloria Snider and Maria Newbury, son in law Gregory Newbury; along with his grandchildren: Brendan Snider and Baylee Smith, Aubrey and Reno Lopes, Katlyn and Cameron Grumbles, and David Horn. He was a proud great-grandfather to Hadleigh Miller, Angelina Horn, Kyeson Krokum, Emreigh Lopes, Astella Grumbles, Ivory Horn, Beau Snider, and Aurora Horn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Louise Waits along with his brother Frank Waits Jr.

To his family, Harold was a steady hand and a kind soul-someone who showed up, listened well, and loved without measure. To his friends, he was a loyal companion, always ready with an encouraging word and an open seat by the campfire. He taught those around him to look for beauty off the beaten path, to take the long way home now and then, and to savor the small joys that make a life rich.

A celebration of Harold's life will be held in Cleburne at Rosser Funeral Home on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor his memory by taking a drive with someone you love, sharing a story around a fire, or helping a neighbor in need-gestures Harold would have cherished.

His journey took him many places, but his heart was always with his family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
