Michael "Mike" David Hight

April 14, 1956 — July 12, 2020

Michael David “Mike” Hight passed from this life on July 12, 2020 at the age of 64.

Mike was born on April 14, 1956 in Hillsboro, TX into the loving, Christian, farming family of Laverne and Betty Hight, joining his sister Deborah. He enjoyed life in the country and anything mechanical. Mike worked on old pickups, tractors, and boats. He enjoyed saltwater fishing, designing and building things, and taking care of the cows. He loved animals and will be missed by his dog, Duke.

He went to technical school at TSTI in Waco to learn diesel mechanics and engineering. Mike worked for Darr Equipment Co. and Tyler Truck Center as a service manager. Later he went into business for himself at the Youngblood Oil Co., which Mike and Dede owned and operated together for 13 years.

Mike married his “truest earthly friend,” Dede in 1995. They enjoyed 25 years of loving, laughing, and working together. Mike always appreciated Dede’s gentle kindness and reassurance as she helped him battle various health issues.

He will be remembered as a man who was always more concerned about other people than himself. He was always ready to help a neighbor or friend, and he could cheer you up even when he wasn’t feeling great himself. He was a faithful member of the Granbury Street Church of Christ in Cleburne, TX.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Laverne and Betty Hight; his grandparents, Bryan and Nola Girault as well as Clisto and Lottie James; and his nephew, Casey Lehtinen.

Mike is survived by his wife, Dede Hight; his sister, Deborah Lehtinen and husband Clark of Cleburne; his sons, David Hight of Hillsboro and Mark Hight of South Dallas; his uncle, Douglas James and wife Brenda of Waco. Also surviving is, Barry and Krista Lehtinen and their children, Sasha and Dane Howell, Caleb Lehtinen and Kidron Lehtinen; Jay and Jennifer Lehtinen and their children, Ian and Ansa; Natasha Lehtinen Chambers and children, Corban, Jonah, and Brook.
