Chester “Heavy” Dale Hutchison born October 19, 1948 succumbed to his battle with cancer on April 11, 2021. Papa’s life was not defined by how he died but how he lived. You knew within an instant of meeting him he was a special person. Always with a joke, a quick-witted comment or just a little poke of fun, he had a special way with people. If you had the chance to be around him you knew he loved his wife and children, but he had that special level of love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He retired from Union Pacific railroad; however, his true calling was with the Fire Department. Dale served the Rio Vista Volunteer Fire Department for 48 years. Described as “Ever Ready, Ever Steady” by his fellow firemen, he lived a life of serving. It was said he never met a stranger and that was how he lived his life, always willing to help, he will truly be missed.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Geneva Mae (Moore) and William Franklin Hutchison; sister, Willie Mae Junge; and brother, Bob Hutchison.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dean Hutchison; children, Jason Hutchison and wife, Gwen, Justin Hutchison and wife, Shara, and Amy Elliott and husband, Roy; brothers, Edward Hutchison and wife, Nancy and Gail Hutchison and wife, Cathy; sister, Betty Sparks and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Brittani, Hailey, Cheyenne, Alley, and Lybbertie; great grandchildren, Hayze, Brailyn, Aiden, and Caitlyn; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
