Jessie Lee (Smith) McDuff, 100, passed away on August 10, 2025, at her home in Hillsboro, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, August 13th, at the Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or other gifts of sympathy, please consider donating to public television, your local art club, or public school art program. Jessie was a strong proponent of those options and what they provide to the community. Jessie was born in Grandview, Texas, on January 11, 1925, to C.J. (Jess) and Laura Smith. She married Rudolph McDuff on April 12, 1946. Jessie and Rudy enjoyed travel across Europe and the United States as a result of trips their appliance store earned from Whirlpool and RCA. After retiring, they enjoyed traveling with a group of friends in their RVs. Jessie enjoyed sewing, painting, and creating arts and crafts. She studied various types of painting and used a variety of mediums, e.g., oil, acrylic, pastels, and watercolor for her pieces. Ceramics, specifically china painting, were a true labor of love. Five or six generations of individuals throughout the area received pieces of her hand-painted china to celebrate their birth, graduation, or other special occasions. Jessie is survived by numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her three siblings: Mrs. Othell Williford, Mr. J.H. (Bud) Smith, and Mrs. Clyde Marbut, and her beloved Rudolph.
