John Bradley Boyd, lovingly known as Brad, passed away on September 26, 2025, in Rio Vista, Texas. He was 55 years old.
Brad lived a life overflowing with love, laughter, and devotion. At the center of his world was Kathleen, the love of his life and his truest companion. Together they built not just a home, but a life rich with joy, strength, and cherished memories. Their bond was undeniable-rooted in a love so deep and steady, one that was evident to everyone who knew them.
Brad was a devoted and fiercely proud father to Kaiden, Rainey, Bentley, Bristol, and Brindle. His children were his heart, his purpose, and his greatest joy. Nothing brought him more happiness than his role in their lives-cheering from the sidelines, applauding from the stands, or simply reminding them, with every word and every look, that he believed in them completely. To Brad, being their dad was the greatest honor of his life, and he poured every ounce of love and pride he had into watching them grow and helping them chase their dreams.
Brad was the son of Vicky and Jerry Mullins and James Patrick Boyd. Brad inherited his dad’s sense of humor, relentless work ethic, and love of animals and nature. His mom and (step)dad, Vicky and Jerry, instilled in him the values of faith, kindness, and traditions. Brad cherished their support and the special closeness they shared especially the last several years of his life. His respect for the values they instilled in him was reflected in how he lived every day as well as the pride in the accomplishments of his siblings Bryant, Heather, Orion and Hearth.
Brad built his career in the scrap business, and it was far more than just a job to him - it was a passion. He believed in honest work and valued the relationships he nurtured daily. He poured his heart into his work, just like he did his family, and those that worked alongside him knew his passion, grit and love were unmatched.
At home, Brad was a man of many talents and passions. He loved tending his garden and making the land around him flourish, creating beauty for his family to enjoy. In the kitchen, he was a gourmet cook, delighting those he cherished with meals made from scratch and seasoned with love. Their ranch, his cooking, and his love of gardening were all extensions of the same things: His desire to give his family a beautiful life.
Brad also loved to travel, always eager to explore new places with Kathleen and the kids. Every trip was another chapter in the story of a life well lived, a life centered around creating moments that his family will carry in their hearts forever.
Alongside his own family, Brad deeply loved and appreciated Kathleen’s family, who welcomed him as one of their own. Time spent with them brought him joy, laughter and a sense of belonging that meant the world to him. He treasured family gatherings, celebrations, and simple moments together, always grateful for the love and closeness they shared.
Brad loved Rio Vista fiercely: the school, the community, and the families who made it home. His love for the town ran deep and true. To Brad, Rio Vista wasn’t just where he lived - it was part of who he was and part of his masterpiece he had built for his family. His life was woven into the very fabric of the town he adored, and in return, the community held a cherished place in his heart.
Those who knew Brad will remember his genuine kindness, quick humor, and fun-loving spirit. He lit up every room, made everyone feel welcome, and always reminded people of what truly matters-family, love, and living life fully.
Family and friends are invited to honor Brad’s life at a viewing on Saturday from 6–8 p.m. at Rosser Funeral Home in Cleburne, Texas. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m at Pathway Church in Burleson, TX.
Brad leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, hard work, and beauty. His memory will live on in his family, his community, and in the countless lives touched by his big heart and generous spirit. Brad will continue to be the guiding voice to so many, and we will all continue to make him proud.
