John Franklin Pugh

John Franklin Pugh, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age of 84. John was born on January 18, 1941, in Cleburne, Texas, spent several years with Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and later made his home in Sherman, Texas.

John had a lifelong passion for golf and was an avid supporter of his favorite sports teams, cheering on the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and Dallas Mavericks with unwavering enthusiasm. His love for sports and his teams brought him great joy and many cherished memories with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Paulette Pugh; his sons, Tony Chancellor, Todd Chancellor, and Phil Pugh; his daughters-in-law, Laura Chancellor, Tina Chancellor, and Brandi Pugh; his sister, Kathy Mann; and his brother, Ted Cotton. John was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who will forever remember his warmth, wisdom, and love.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Kathlyn Cotton; his stepfather, Herman Cotton; and his father, Robert Franklin Pugh.

A memorial service in John’s honor will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Sherman Museum, located at 301 S. Walnut St., Sherman, TX 75090. Burial services will occur on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne, Texas.

John’s kindness, humor, and passion for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in John’s memory.
