Kathy Hanchey passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in Cleburne, Texas. She was born on February 19, 1952, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Reginald and Betty (Ford) Ballard.
Kathy dedicated 40 years as a dental hygienist, retiring after faithfully serving the practice of Dr. Dan Doss. She had a deep love for her faith, her family and her community. A devoted member of the Keene Seventh-day Adventist Church, Kathy's life was a reflection of her kindness, compassion, and unwavering willingness to serve others.
Kathy never met a stranger. Her friendships spanned generations, from those old enough to be her parents to those young enough to be her grandchildren. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
She always put others before herself, quietly serving wherever she saw a need. She found great joy in volunteering at the Plaza Theatre in Cleburne and at the college food pantry, where she touched countless lives through her generosity and servant's heart.
An enthusiastic supporter of TCU athletics and a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, Kathy's greatest joy was her family. She never missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandchildren, faithfully attending their sporting events, performances, ceremonies, and other special moments. Being present for the people she loved was one of the defining characteristics of her life.
Kathy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, selfless heart, infectious smile, and the genuine love and encouragement she shared with everyone she met. Her faith guided her life, her family was her greatest treasure, and her legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reginald and Betty Ballard, and her brother, Ronnie Ballard.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Lynley Walker and husband, Blake; her sons, Devon Bass and wife, Nicole, and Ryan Hanchey and wife, Grace; her grandsons, Austin Bass and Theo Hanchey; her granddaughters, Casey Bass, Kinley Walker, Faith Walker, and Ana Kate Hanchey; her sister, Lynn Ballard Sonsel; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish her memory forever.
While our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort knowing that the love, kindness, and faith she shared so freely will live on in the lives of everyone she touched.
