Obituary

Kenneth Skidmore, born September 12, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, to Maurice and Jessiel Skidmore, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 31, 2026.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Rosser Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2026, in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Derden Cemetery.

Kenneth was a proud graduate of Skyline High School, where he met the love of his life. On January 8, 1977, he married his high school sweetheart, Sheri. They shared 44 beautiful years of marriage until her passing in 2021. Kenneth missed her deeply and often spoke of the day they would be reunited again.

A devoted family man, Kenneth cherished the life they built together—especially the home they created at Lake Cypress Springs. It was there that countless memories were made, hosting family gatherings, enjoying summers filled with fishing, boating, laughter, and love alongside family and friends.

Kenneth began working at a young age in his father’s painting business, learning the value of hard work early in life. He eventually took over the company upon his father’s retirement and spent many years dedicated to reconstructing homes and businesses. Through his work, he built not only structures but lasting friendships and meaningful relationships. He was respected and admired by many, including employees who loved him like a father. Kenneth was truly one of a kind, always willing to teach, guide, and lend a helping hand.

Above all, Kenneth loved his family. He was an incredible father who ensured his children always had what they needed and more. A grandfather “Yogi” who delighted in spoiling his grandchildren, who were truly his pride and joy. He treasured time spent with them—whether on vacations ranging from Wyoming to South Padre Island, camping trips that evolved from tents to pop-ups to fifth wheels, or fishing trips with his son and close friends. Every moment was an opportunity to create memories that will be cherished forever.

Kenneth will always be remembered for his tireless work ethic, his generous and giving spirit, his willingness to help anyone in need, and his enormous heart filled with unconditional love.

He is survived by his children, Amber Lanphere and husband Tim, and Erich Skidmore and wife Lindsay; his beloved grandchildren, Paisley, Kenneth, Ty, Rafe, and Hope; his sister-in-law Teri Hughes; his brother-in-law Johnny Hodge and wife Valerie; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his dog and cuddle buddy, Jodi.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sheri Skidmore; his parents, Maurice and Jessiel Skidmore; and his brother, James Skidmore.

Kenneth’s legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
