Lawson Lee
Mason
January 16, 1952 – May 10, 2026
Mason Lee Lawson, 74, passed away on May 10, 2026, in Cleburne, Texas. He was born on January 16, 1952, in Harrisonville, Missouri.
He was the first-born son of Darrell Lawson and Dora Risner Osborn. Mason married his high school sweetheart, Donna Cottrell Jackson (Charles Jackson) and together they raised a loving family. He is survived by their two children: Tamera Lawson Harlow (Burt Harlow) of Grandview, Texas and Trenton Lee Lawson of Katy, Texas.
He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren who brought him immense joy: Britny Nicole Swanberg (Dustin Swanberg) of Granbury, Texas, Alisa Lee Lawson, Mason Lee Lawson II, Christina Taylor, Chris Tran and Ben Tran all of Katy, Texas. He was also blessed with five greatgrandchildren, Andrew James Floyd Swanberg and Maxine Harlow Swanberg both of Granbury, Texas and Amelia Taylor, Arthur Taylor and Elena Taylor of Katy, Texas.
Mason uprooted his life many times to remain close to his children. He left the home that he designed and built in Garden City, Missouri to move in with his daughter in Grandview, Texas in 2018. This move allowed him to spend more time with his family in his final years. His devotion and the sacrifices he made for his family will never be forgotten.
He is additionally survived by his siblings: Brad Lawson (Tereasa Lawson) of Tacoma, Washington and Sherry Lawson of Dallas, Texas, as well as his niece, Ainsley Syreeta Lawson of Tacoma, Washington.
Mason served his country by joining the Army which included eighteen months of being stationed in West Berlin, Germany. This created an opportunity to travel throughout Europe before returning to the United States. He graduated from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, and he later earned a Master's degree in Computer Systems Management from the University of Phoenix. Much of his career included traveling across the states before he retired at the age of 57.
Mason enjoyed watching sports over the years and despite moving across the country he remained loyal to his childhood teams. He always rooted for the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. He also loved hiking and dreamed of walking the entire Appalachian Trail. In his honor, his family will celebrate his life along the trail later this year- a place that reflects his quiet strength, determination and love for the outdoors.
He will be remembered for the love he had for his family, the steadiness of his character and the legacy he leaves in the generations that follow him.
