Leigh Ann Underwood

Leigh Ann Underwood of Godley, TX, passed away on August 27, 2023. She was 66 years old. She was known by many names including Winkie and Momma, but her favorite was Meme.

She was born in Cleburne, Texas, to Carrie and CJ Campbell on July 22, 1957. She graduated from Joshua High School in 1975. She then became a cosmetologist. She married Gary Neal Underwood on June 5, 1984, and they were married for 39 years.

After becoming a mother, Leigh Ann stayed home for many years taking care of Neely and Cally, making up songs and dances, baking in the middle of the night when they wanted a special treat, and always willing to go shopping to find a good deal.

Leigh Ann went back to work where she styled hair at Hair Tech in Godley for more than 30 years. She enjoyed working alongside Carol and tending to her clients. She looked forward to her trips with Carol to Winstar where she enjoyed playing the slots. Leigh Ann adored her grandbabies and liked to give them tickles and snuggles.

Leigh Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and she will be dearly missed. She is survived by her brother Jimmy Campbell of Red Oak, brother Tony Campbell and his wife Debbie of Cleburne, sister-in-law Kathleen Knapp and husband Richard of Cleburne, sister-in-law Carolyn Brown of Burleson, daughter Neely Vasquez and husband Adam of Grandview, daughter Cally Escobar and husband Celso of Plano, and beautiful grandchildren Adley, Cruz, Celise, and Neeson, all of whom will miss their Meme. Leigh Ann had numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will never forget her smile.
