Obituary

Lizzie Margita Spaulding, 86, of Cleburne, Texas passed away peacefully on Monday, October 5, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her daughter, Lisa and dear friend Crystal.

Lizzie was born April 18, 1940 in Karlskrona, Sweden to Sven and Elsa (Aberg) Svenson. At 18 years old, she immigrated to the United States alone aboard a ship and built a wonderful life. She spoke of this trip many times. Lizzie was full of great stories from her life and if you sat with her long enough, you'd leave happier, full of stories and swearing that you'd known her forever!

Her most treasured role though, was as "Gma". It was a role she played well and was one of the highlights of her life.

She was a retired social worker and a funny, friendly, outgoing lady who loved her family, Elvis, Willie Nelson and cared deeply about her social work. She retired at 76 and was very proud of that. She loved working for National Church Residences at Lincoln Ridge in Cleburne, TX. She retired in 2017 with many, many lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 47 years, James Spaulding; one sister, Elsebeth Ӧberg and her son, Dan.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Spaulding and Terrell Sullivan; son Kristofer Spaulding; daughter Lisa Valentine and Chris; grandchildren, Corrina Sullivan, Myckenzie Streadwick, Elisa Valentine Cody and husband Barrett Cody; sister, Sigbrith Sollander and husband Rolf; niece, Susanne Jansson and her family; nephew, Bjӧrn Sollander and his family; and many other extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
