Margaret Ann Hering passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, at the age of 82 in Whitney, Texas, after a courageous battle with vascular dementia. Born on May 6, 1943, in Blue Mountain, Arkansas, Margaret's life was one of resilience, passion, and service to her community and family. Margaret survived polio in her young years, overcoming its challenges with unwavering strength, and with the help of dedicated care from her family and Scottish Rite hospital. This tenacity was a defining trait throughout her life. After completing her education at Frenship High School in Wolfforth, Texas, she pursued her interest in child development at Lubbock Christian College. However, she found her professional calling in accounting and finance, holding positions at March of Dimes, the Texas Tech Alumni Association, and as the Bursar at Texas Tech University. In 1984, Margaret married Carroll Henry Hering, blending their families to create a nurturing home for their seven children. Their shared enthusiasm for traveling and genealogy led them on a memorable journey to Germany, tracing the roots of the Hering family. The duo were active members of the Hill County Geological Society, and Margaret took particular joy in being a docent at various historical sites in Hill County. Margaret's warmth, curiosity for life, and dedication to her family will be deeply missed.
She leaves behind her beloved children: Leonard Haley, Ann Dominique Shu (husband Theo), Nancy Kay Whitworth (husband Jason), David Allen Hering, James Arthur Hering (wife Marcy), Mark Wayne Hering, and daughter-in-law Patience Hering. Margaret was a proud grandmother to Priscilla Carr (husband Josh), Austin Hering, Macy Hering, Jacob Hering (wife Kaiti), Megan Hering, Alex Kasischke, and Pierce Whitworth. Margaret was also blessed with two great-grandchildren - Joy and Jubilee Carr. She is also survived by her brothers: George Clifton Hughes, Henry Thomas Hughes, and Robert Eric Hughes. Preceding her in death are her husband, Carroll, her son John Carroll Hering, her daughter-in-law Luana Kay Hering, and her brothers Jerry W Hughes and Moody Dale Hughes.
Funeral and memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 24th at 11:00 am at Rosser Funeral Home, 1664 West Henderson Street, Cleburne, TX 76033. Margaret's family invites those wishing to honor her legacy, to cherish the fond memories shared, and rejoice in the life of a remarkable woman. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association, reflecting Margaret's spirit of perseverance and hope.
