Obituary

Maria Q. Castro passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at her home in Grandview surrounded by her beloved family.

Services are pending at this time.

Maria was born in Mexico on August 20, 1935. A true homemaker, she loved to cook and hands down made the best pico de gallo and refried beans ever and delicious homemade tortillas and cookies. But make no mistake, anyone could get the wooden spoon! Maria liked staying busy. She travelled and loved the water and swimming. But most of all, Maria loved her family and believed in the Golden Rule. She was the best secret keeper! Maria loved the Lord and was a member of the Rio Vista Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marsila Quintero; husband, Johnnie Midgett, Jr.; daughter, Delia Midgett, and grandsons, Fredrico Jenkins III and Michael May.

Maria is survived by her son Norberto Midgett and wife, Andrea; daughters Johnnie Moore, Maria Midgett Webb, Alma Midgett, Barbara May and husband, Royce, Idella King and husband, Dale, and Marcella Clover and husband, Michael; and brother, Norberto Quintero.

As matriarch of her family, Maria is also survived by four generations of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren.
