Funeral services for Maria Helen Chavez, 79, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Sergio Rizo officiating.  Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery with Julian Amaya, Jonathon Spurgeon, Wil Spurgeon, Joseph Chavez, Philip Chavez, and Tomas Chavez serving as pallbearers.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Rosser Funeral Home.

Maria passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, in Cleburne.  She was born in Hillsboro, Texas on August 13, 1944, the daughter of Mary (Bason) and Pedro Chavez.

Maria worked at Walls Industries and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Manuel and Simon Chavez; and sister, Lupe Herrera.

Maria is survived by her sister, Margaret Chavez of Cleburne; brothers, John Chavez and wife, Teresa, of Arlington, Texas, Mike Chavez and wife, Gloria, of Cleburne, and Roy Chavez and wife, Marivel, of Fort Worth; nieces and nephews, Paul and Kelli Chavez, Gilbert and Jenny Chavez, Richard Chavez, Amiee and Robbie Spurgeon, Elaine and Ted Gonzalez, Daniel Chavez, Peter Chavez, Jannet Herrera, Tomas Chavez, Kristy and Xavier Salazar, Philip Chavez, Lizzy Herrera and Caleb Parker, and Kelsi Chavez; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
