Marla Jo Adams, age 70, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026 with her husband and niece by her side. She was born on December 9, 1955, to Jim and Mary Tiwater.
Marla grew up in Glen Rose, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Marty Adams. Their story began with a first date at the Southside Drive-In in Fort Worth. During their early years, Marla worked at the family-owned Fina gas station, while Marty worked at Higginbothams. They made their home in Glen Rose before later moving to Alvarado, and eventually settling in Cleburne, Texas, where they lived at Buena Vista.
Marla had a deep love for life and for others. She enjoyed playing bingo, taking art classes, and most importantly, singing praises to her Lord. She was saved and baptized in 2010 at New Beginning Church, where she faithfully attended and shared her love of music at every opportunity. Marla had a special place in her heart for the children at the church, and they loved her dearly in return. Her congregation was like a second family to her. She will be missed dearly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Mary Tiwater; her brother, Mike Tiwater; and her nephew, Tommy Tiwater.
She is survived by her loving husband, Marty Adams; her siblings, David Tiwater and his wife Cynthia, and sisters; Tammy Smith and Susan Tiwater; sisters in-law Shirley Tiwater and Marcella Thomas and brother in law David Adams & her cherished dog, Sasha Adams; her nephews, Michael Tiwater, David Tiwater Jr, Travis Tiwater, and Ricky Tiwater; and her nieces, Julie Cormier, Melissa Mochmer, and Chloe Smith. Abundance of great nephews and nieces.
Marla will be remembered for her kind heart, joyful spirit, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord." - Matthew 25:23
