A memorial service honoring the life of Richard Gatlin Matthews, 85, of Cleburne, Texas will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 with the Rev. Weldon Coble officiating.
Richard was promoted to his heavenly home September 5, 2021. He was born on March 8, 1936 in Seminole, Texas, to Madolyn (Huffman) and Sam Matthews.
Richard served in country in the United States Navy and retired from Johns-Manville after 31 years of service.
He married Elizabeth Streeter on September 9, 1998 in Warren Arkansas. Richard loved watching sports and was a member of Cornerstone Church in Cleburne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Rusty, Burley, Stanley, Bessie, Floy, and Mary Ann.
Richard is survived by his wife, Beth; daughter, Mindy Horn and husband, Scott; sons, Robert Matthews and wife, Rachel, and Rodney Matthews; brother, Lynn Matthews of Florida; sister, Dorothy Duvall of Lawrenceville, Illinois; step-children, Richard Cope, Rene Sapien, Kim Wicker, Terry Mays, and Robert Mays; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
