He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Betty, Wynona, Wanda, Wilma, Jean Holton and stepson Skipper.
Max is survived by his wife Reba Holton of Alvarado, TX; daughters, Robin Beadle and husband, Alonza of CA, Toni Horn and husband, Charles and their daughters, Taylor and Courtny; sons, Max Holton, Jr of Weatherford, TX and Shane Holton of Arlington, TX; granddaughter, Erin Sturt; great granddaughter, Allie Shivers and husband, Cole; stepsons, Jimmy Collins and Jeremy Collins and wife, Melissa, all of Alvarado, TX. Max spent most of his working career supervising commercial construction and later building custom homes. He never really retired and was in the process of constructing a building on his property when he was diagnosed with cancer. He had many talents and interests. Cooking was a passion of his and he enjoyed sharing his recipes and teaching the young guys to cook his famous pinto beans.
He loved canning and making jelly that he shared with his friends. Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday, and he always made sweet potatoes and cranberries.
Max loved being with his family and friends, but he was truly happiest when he was in Wyoming, camping and elk hunting. He and Reba went there every September for many years and were planning to go this year.
His passing has left a void in many lives, and he will be greatly missed but he will be remembered and talked about often with tear-filled eyes but also with smiles and laughter.
A Celebration of Life Service for Max will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Buffalo Funeral Home, 249 Humphreys Street, Buffalo, TX 75831.
