Patsy Jo Cowan passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 18th, 2026. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Patsy was born in Waco on August 14, 1934 to Red Turner and Hazel Slaughter. She was raised in Cleburne with her sister, Carol Ann Witcher. She and Carol Ann were both sisters and life long friends. They enjoyed each other's company and had many wonderful trips and holidays together over the many years.
Patsy loved her TCU Horn Frogs having attended TCU for two years before marrying the love of her life, Thomas Lyle Cowan. Together they built a wonderful life full of love and mutual effort of raising 5 children - Tommy, Karen, Kirk, Kevin and Kendra. Patsy and Tom created a welcoming home to family and friends in Cleburne that endured through the 56 years of marriage.
Patsy and Tom loved Jesus. They knew that He was keeping them in their care and their trust in Him was built through their life together. They leaned on their faith through Tom's trials with cancer. Patsy leaned on Him when her beloved Tom passed in 2010. She was strong in her faith through her many years with MS. She was an inspiration to Tom, her children, grandchildren and countless friends who saw her in the MS battle, knew who she trusted in and through that strength showed determination and patience that only God can provide. The two could be seen each Sunday at the United Presbyterian Church in Cleburne whether in a pew worshiping or out on the grounds planting and tilling as Tom loved to do. They were members of the Twilight Garden Club and delighted in seeing what other garden enthusiasts produced each season. Patsy loved a bright blooming hibiscus and a pink Gerber daisy. She created a Christmas wonderland for the family that endures in all her children's homes.
Tom and Patsy had a special love for Santa Fe, NM and visited the city many times. They loved the art, the gardens and the architecture of the SW. Patsy loved people and never met a stranger. She excelled as a realtor for Turner and Easdon/Bob King Realty becoming a Million Dollar Producer in 1987 and 1988. In 2004, Patsy was inducted into the Realtor's Wall of Fame. She had a quick smile and she loved a good conversation and a beautiful home. She loved meeting new people and that love did not dim as she spent her final years in Brookdale Stonebridge. She was made the Brookdale Ambassador because of her loving, cheerful and welcoming demeanor.
Though Patsy has left us for Heaven to be with her Savior, her family takes comfort in knowing that she was greatly loved here on earth and in Heaven. Patsy clung to her love of the Lord and His word through the most joyous times and sorrowful moments. She lived out Scripture:
"I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13
Granny Patsy is survived by her loving children - Tom Cowan (Vicki), Karen Stanley (Mike), Kirk Cowan (Patty), Kevin Cowan (Andrea) and Kendra McDonald(Bill). She was greatly loved by her grandchildren - Tammie, Kris (Kelly), Keith, Blair (Sawyer), Trent(Kelsey), Thomas (Heather), Samuel (Grethe), Kaelan (Nick) and Mackenzie as well as great grandchildren - Karlee, Kenzee, Caroline, Molleigh, Sydney, Kenleigh and Jude. She will be greatly missed because she loved well.
