Valerie Lynn Pogue, 66, of Cleburne, Texas will be laid to rest in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas. A memorial celebration will be held on June 5, 2021 at a time and place to be announced.
Valerie Lynn Pogue passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 in Cleburne, Texas. She was born June 3, 1954 in Amarillo to Billie (Rice) and Jack Hughes.

Valerie was a retired school counselor with CISD. She volunteered for the Children’s Advocacy Center and helped with the Farmers Market in Cleburne. She attended Field Street Baptist Church and also New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. Valerie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Greg Collins and James Hughes.

Survivors include her son, Zachary David Pogue and wife, Maria of Cleburne and Markus Betschart and wife, Kaludija of Switzerland; daughter, Melodye Jessup of Cleburne; brother, Jeffery Hughes and wife, Charlene of Hurst; and sister, Beverly Mask; six grandchildren, Nikki Ortegon, Reagan Jessup, James Pogue, Junior Jessup, Zachary Pogue and Max Martin; four great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to: The Billie Story Scholarship, in honor of Valerie Pogue, at Cleburne ISD, 505 N. Ridgeway Dr. #100, Cleburne, Texas 76033.
