Obituary for Kern Porter

Funeral services for Kern Porter, 81, of Cleburne, Texas will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Westhill Church of Christ in Cleburne with Mr. Karl Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Rest Cemetery in Alvarado.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Rosser Funeral Home.
Kern passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021 in Cleburne. He was born October 31, 1940 in Waynesboro, Tennessee to Daisy Marie (Tyler) and Henry Kern Porter.
He received his Bachelor of Science degree at Oklahoma Christian University, a teaching certificate and Masters degree in Supervision from East Central University, a Masters in Counseling Psychology at University of Central Oklahoma, and did his Doctorial work in Theology from Trinity Theological School.
Kern met his wife, Cheryl at Oklahoma Christian University and married on June 11, 1964 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was a member of Westhill church of Christ and the Lions Club in both Antlers and Seminole, Oklahoma. He served as a minister for more than 50 years, retiring in 2007.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Cheryl Porter of Cleburne; sons, Todd Alan Porter and wife, Krista of North Richland Hills and Michael Porter and wife, Angela; daughter, Leslie Porter of Cleburne; grandchildren, Elyse Roe Porter, Fowler Belle Porter, Thatcher Cade Porter and Ledger Bohlen Porter; siblings, Bill, David, Gene and Gary Porter and their spouses; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
