Military graveside services will be conducted for Richard Shields Parker, 75, of Burleson, Texas at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Richard Parker passed away April 29, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia on August 6, 1947, the son of Anne Parson (Watts) and Donald Stanley Parker.

Richard served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Hoel during the Vietnam War.

He retired after 31 years of service with General Motors. Richard loved to hunt, fish, camp, and enjoyed all outdoor activities. One of his favorite pastimes was traveling around on his Harley.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Parker, Jr.; and step-brother, Kim Strayer.

He is survived by his son, David Parker and wife, Terry, of Porterville, California; grandchildren, KC Parker and wife, Kayla of Perry, Iowa, Jacob Parker and Lexi Horn of Sonora, California, and Ashley Parker Hamilton and husband, Danny, of Tuolumne, California; great grandchildren, Braxten Hamilton, Leanna Parker, Koda Parker, and Owen Hamilton; sister, Susan Parker of Massachusetts; half-sisters, Mary Parker Roberds of Carlisle, Pennsylvania and Ruth Parker of Charlestown, West Virginia; step-brother, Guy Strayer of Idaho Falls, Idaho; step-sisters, Marsha Hawkins of Whtesboro, Texas and Tina Smith of Cleburne, Texas; and many other family members and friends.
