Memorial Service
Rosser Funeral Home Chapel
10:00 - 11:00 am (Central time)
Ronald Joseph Simmons, known to his family as Ronnie Joe, 77, passed away in Alvarado, Texas.
Born in Riverside, California, and raised in Ketchum, Oklahoma, Ron grew up with tools in his hands. He spent his life as a home builder, creating places for others to grow, love, and live. Ron was a protector at heart. He loved his family, loved his guns and loved his tools just about as much. He lived life with a no nonsense attitude and a soft spot he sometimes pretended wasn't there.
Ron is preceded in death by his father Billie Joseph Simmons, his mother Neva Pearl Johnston, his sister Joan Simmons, and his brother Jimmy Lee Simmons.
He is survived by his daughters Deanna Sharp (and her husband Ron Sharp) and Megan Massey (and her husband James Massey); his grandchildren Hannah Sharp, Avery Massey, and Emily Massey - who brought out a gentler side of him; his sister Susan Stephens, and his former wife, Brenda Simmons who was his friend until the end. He's also survived by a large extended family who loved him.
Ron loved hard, and left his mark on those around him. Sometimes with a hammer, sometimes with a joke that made you shake your head, but always with heart.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 11, at 10:00 a.m. at Rosser Funeral Home, 1664 W. Henderson St., Cleburne, Texas 76033.
