Willie Lee Russell (Wels)

Willie Lee Russell, 95, of the George’s Creek area, passed away May 8, 2021 at her daughter’s home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at George’s Creek Cemetery with Pastors John Roof and Pat Bush officiating.
She was born to F. Will Wels and Cora (Hunter) Wels on November 1, 1925, in Godley Texas.
Willie Lee lived on the family ranch and attended school at Godley. Soon after graduating high school, she married and settled in the George’s Creek area known now as Russell Ranch. She put in many long hard days working as a seasonal laborer and rancher, and was also a member of George’s Creek Baptist Church.
Willie Lee is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen W Russell; and sisters, Ollie, Inez, and Winnie.
She leaves behind her daughter, Ceta Moore; granddaughters, Jennifer Hunter and Kreshna Sheplear; four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
