Obituary

Shirley Ann Myers Pendley, age 80, of Cleburne, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on April 5, 2026.

Shirley was born May 19, 1945, in Miami, Oklahoma, to George Myers and Margery “Jewel” (Kirk) Myers. She was raised in Miami alongside her sister, Barbara Myers Orcutt (December 25, 1940 – March 6, 2022), and her brother, Reverend Clyde Miller of Cincinnati, Ohio, a longtime Assembly of God minister. Shirley was a lifelong follower of Christ whose faith shaped her service to children, families, and her community throughout her life.

On April 24, 1965, Shirley married Ken Pendley in Miami, Oklahoma, beginning a partnership that would span nearly sixty-one years. Together they shared a life full of energy and adventure—riding matching motorcycles, driving dune buggies, and welcoming all challengers on the tennis courts, where they most often came out on top. Shirley was also known for her strong and competitive game of badminton.

Shirley and Ken owned and operated Wings World Tumbling Gym in Miami, Oklahoma, for twenty years, influencing generations of athletes and families. While many assumed Ken was the strict coach, those who knew them well understood that Shirley was the meticulous perfectionist—carefully studying rules, tallying scores, comparing point values, and ensuring no detail was overlooked. She was determined that her athletes—and especially her daughter—would never be beaten by anything preventable.

Her greatest pride during those years was coaching her daughter, Tammy Estes, who went on to become a world champion power tumbler and later a master’s-level Cecchetti ballet dancer. Shirley was also a lifelong Oklahoma Sooners fan, and she was especially proud when Tammy became captain of the University of Oklahoma’s national champion cheer squad. Together, Tammy’s world title and leadership of a national championship OU team represented accomplishments that reflected years of Shirley’s steady support, encouragement, and commitment behind the scenes.

In 1995, Tammy and her husband, Jon Estes, opened Miss Tammy’s All-Star Co. in Cleburne, Texas. After selling Wings World, Shirley and Ken later moved to Cleburne in 2004 to be closer to family and to support Tammy, Jon, and their gym community. Shirley remained closely connected behind the scenes, always encouraging excellence and helping ensure everything stayed top-notch. Until her final days, she stayed involved in the lives of Tammy, Olivia, and the Miss Tammy’s family.

Shirley’s faith shaped her service to others throughout her life. During children’s church, she helped generations of young students come to know Jesus, have fun learning Scripture, and memorize the books of the Bible through their special Books of the Bible song. If it were possible to count the thousands of children and families she influenced—from children’s church to Wings World to Miss Tammy’s—it would be an extraordinary number.

Though Shirley collected many treasured things throughout her life, the greatest collection she ever built was her collection of friends. Her influence across the communities of Miami, Oklahoma, and Cleburne, Texas, is immeasurable. She was loved, admired, and respected by generations whose lives she helped shape.

Those who knew Shirley best remember her sharp wit, quick humor, and unmistakable honesty. She had a gift for saying exactly what needed to be said and was deeply trusted by those around her.

One of Shirley’s greatest joys in life was her granddaughter, Olivia Estes, lovingly known to her as “Liv Love.” Shirley followed every step of Olivia’s journey with pride and attention and wanted only the very best for Olivia, Tammy, and their gym family.

She is survived by her husband, Ken Pendley; her daughter, Tammy Estes, and husband Jon Estes; her granddaughter, Olivia Estes; her brother, Reverend Clyde Miller; and her nieces and nephews, Russell Orcutt, Michelle Orcutt, Robin Orcutt, Debbie Ferguson, Crystal Miller Winters, and Mark Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2026, at Rosser Funeral Home Chapel in Cleburne, with burial to follow at Rosehill Cemetery.

Shirley’s legacy of faith, excellence, friendship, and devotion to family will continue through the generations she influenced and loved.

As Scripture reminds us in 2 Timothy 4:7:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” ✝️💛
