Obituary

Stephen Jon Tyler, age 58, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on August 11, 2026. Born on August 23, 1967, in Moscow, Idaho, Stephen was the beloved son of Margaret Walker and Stephen Ben Tyler. He lived a life marked by service, curiosity, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for the people and passions that shaped him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Tyler, and his daughter, Caroline Tyler. Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Theresa "Tess" (Gilley) Tyler; his mother, Margaret Walker; his sisters, Cyndi Tyler and Ann Rice and her husband, Rodney; his brother, Sonny Tyler and his wife, Renee; his children, Elizabeth "Ellie" Tyler, Stephen "Jimmy" Tyler, Jonathan "Jonny" Tyler, and Amanda "Mandy" Tyler; his stepchildren, Garrett Hutchins, Hadyn Gomez and her husband, Daniel, and Dallas Hutchins; his grandson, Emmett Gomez; his nephews, Ryan Rice and Steven Tyler; his nieces, Alexa Rice, Georgia Rice, and Ashlyn Tyler; and countless other family members and dear friends. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his intelligence, humor, dedication, and the lasting impression he made on those who knew him.

Stephen proudly served his country as a decorated Navy Intelligence Officer for nearly 13 years, receiving numerous awards and honors throughout his military career. After his time in the Navy, he continued to pursue the work he loved in the private sector, building a career in technology and applying the same dedication, discipline, and sharp mind that had guided his years of service.

Outside of his professional life, Stephen found joy in music, karaoke, intelligence games, and baseball-especially cheering on the Texas Rangers. Whether following a game, talking through a big play, or simply enjoying the rhythm of the season, his love for the Rangers was one more way he connected with the people and pastimes that brought him happiness. His quick wit, love of a challenge, and enthusiasm for the things he enjoyed brought warmth and character to every gathering. Stephen's presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will be cherished by all who loved him.
