Sue Brackeen Montgomery passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, in Dallas. She was born June 11, 1937, in Dallas to Leslie Allen and Anna Katherine (Strobel) Brackeen. She was preceded in death by her parents and her former husband, Robert (Bob) E. Montgomery.

Sue was a lifelong resident of Dallas. Sue graduated from Sunset High School in 1955 and attended Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth. Sue and Bob met on a blind date in 1956 after Bob's first cousin Carolyn Montgomery set them up.

Bob and Sue had a family business together for many years, owning a childrenswear showroom at the Dallas Apparel Mart and the Atlanta Mart representing premier children's clothing, toys, and gifts. Sue and her family lived in Richardson for many years while her children were growing up and she was active in PTA, Westshore United Methodist Church, YMCA and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Later in life Sue was the Operations Manager for the Lilly Dodson Escada store in the Dallas Highland Park Village store. After her "retirement" from retail in 2003, she returned to the workforce in a whole new career as a Medical Billing Agent for Pediatrix for the next 13-years. She never stopped growing in her career life.

Survivors include her son, Allen Montgomery and wife Tara of Greensboro, North Carolina; daughters, Alice Montgomery Rugeley and husband Lane of Cleburne, Texas; and Stacy Montgomery MacLure and husband Scott of Port Orange, Florida; grandchildren, William Montgomery, Caroline Cocanougher and husband Quinton, Ian MacLure, Rachel Rugeley, Kate Montgomery, Hutson Howard, and Jude Howard. She is also survived by her lifelong friends, her Lilly Dodson colleagues, and her extended family. The family also wished to thank her devoted caregivers at CC Young and Nobel House for all the love and care they gave her for the last 7 years.

Sue-Sue, as she was affectionately known to her grandchildren, was famous for the annual New Years Eve Party she held for them every year. Sue-Sue was passionate about her Dallas Cowboys and Women's NCAA Basketball. She had a great eye for color and style and always loved to be dressed for the occasion. She was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain and share her home with friends and family. She was telling her life stories until the very end. She was devoted to all her family and friends, and her steady presence will be greatly missed.
