Tena Margaret Colley Alexander, 75, of Cleburne passed away on February 7, 2026, after battling cancer. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, and we are confident that as she took her last breath on earth, she took her first steps into heaven and into the arms of Jesus.

She was born September 14, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Edward and Fern Colley. At the age of 4 months, her family moved to Texas. She grew up in Fort Worth, with her siblings, Karen and Bryant. Tena graduated from Poly High School in 1968 and from UTA in 1972 with a Bachelor’s in Math and French.

Tena married Lake Alexander in 1973, and together they had two children, James and Shannon.

Tena knew at an early age that she wanted to be a teacher. She started her teaching career at Mansfield Jr High, where she taught for 7 years. She then moved to Cleburne where she taught 8th grade Math for 32 years, retiring in 2015.

Tena became a member of Delta Kappa Gamma in 1988. She served as president for 2 years and treasurer since 2013. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, where she taught children’s Sunday School for over 20 years.

Upon retirement, Tena volunteered with Christian Women’s Job Corp and was their office manager, beginning in 2016. She also joined The Johnson-Somervell Counties Retired School Employees Association, serving as secretary for several years.

So many lives have been blessed by Tena’s kindness and love, which flowed from her love of the Lord. She will forever be cherished by those whose lives she touched. Tena was a woman of dignity and grace, loved by all.
