IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Timothy Dean
McLain
June 15, 1960 – November 25, 2025
Timothy "Tim" Dean McLain, 65, passed away on November 25, 2025. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he lived a life defined by grit, humor, and a fierce devotion to the people he loved.
Tim shared more than 35 years with his wife, Theresa Kovacs, and the two were married in 2015. He was a proud father to his sons, Kyle (wife, Rebekah) and Zachary, and a deeply adored Papaw of Laurena Marie and Riley Dean. He is also survived by his stepmom, Janet McLain Johnson; and sisters, Julie McLain Walters and Annette McLain. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elden Burt and Shirley Carroll; his brother, Tony Miller-McLain; and his beloved Uncle Jerry and Aunt Jan Helton.
A skilled carpenter by trade, Tim was gifted with his hands and found joy in woodworking. His creativity and craftsmanship touched countless projects and people throughout his life. Tim loved music, especially classic rock that filled his home and eventually the hearts of his children and grandchildren. From Pink Floyd to AC/DC, Queen to Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins to Alice in Chains, his playlists were loud, unapologetic, and unmistakably Tim.
He handed down countless meaningful lessons to his boys-how to find humor in the stupid things of life, let go of anger, and, of course, how to be appropriately disappointed in the Cowboys.
But perhaps their favorite was the art of mastering the smoker. Some of their best memories were made in the backyard, tending racks of ribs side by side, laughing, talking, and savoring the slow, simple moments that became family treasures.
Tim's personality was larger than life. He was boisterous and loud, with a laugh so obnoxious it was impossible to ignore-and now deeply missed. He could be a handful, but he was undeniably the heart of his family. His presence filled every room, and his absence leaves a space that love and memory alone can hope to fill.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2025 at Crowley First United Methodist Church.
He will be remembered with gratitude, laughter, and enduring affection by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
